Who is affected?

Self-harm and can affect anyone at any age, but it is most common in young people. It is estimated that around 20% of young people are self-harming at any one time.

Overeating in a compulsive way is very common. It is believed that almost 1 in 2 people who seek help for weight loss consider themselves to be compulsive eaters, which would suppose up to about 12 million people in the UK.
